Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our criteria for what a quality bed should have. With 8 exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud utilizes all the right materials in its construction. Wink vs Dreamcloud Mattress
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Wink vs Dreamcloud Mattress
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play here, I’m stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Wink vs Dreamcloud Mattress
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at releasing heat, so the addition of these small ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions into the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent rebound and assist to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in moderating temperature as the spaces between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting light hand pressure into the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
Now I want to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving just my view on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I invited three additional people to give their view as well. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the mattress, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the market norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s apparent that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can find the results on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you’ll want to know what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of movement that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Wink vs Dreamcloud Mattress
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome solution for couples.
When purchasing a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Wink vs Dreamcloud Mattress
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, then it is likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did at the middle. Going closer to the side, I experienced a little compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
