Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our criteria for what a quality bed should provide. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Founder
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Founder
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play , I’m stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Founder
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The center of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in moderating temperatures as the spaces between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the base of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting mild hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
At this point I want to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I invited three other people to give their opinion too. This will provide you with a much better sense of the firmness range you may see from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this bed is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to simply explaining the feel of this mattress for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do so, I placed a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. However, I felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and from the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to find out what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Founder
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great solution for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Founder
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am particularly interested to determine if the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
