As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our criteria for what a quality bed should provide. With 8 unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Doscount
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.

Construction Dreamcloud Doscount
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play , I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Doscount
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of those tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
Now I’d like to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of this DreamCloud, I invited three other people to present their opinion too. This will provide you with a much better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compared to the market standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s apparent that this bed is really firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a solid bed. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to simply explaining the feel of the DreamCloud to you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can find the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was equally distributed across the mattress, therefore I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse, you’ll want to find out what it’ll feel like if the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Dreamcloud Doscount
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome solution for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Doscount
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a partner and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it is going to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it will give you.
I’m especially interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a little compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
