Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our criteria for what a quality mattress should have. With 8 unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all the proper materials in its construction. Where Can I Test A Dreamcloud Mattress
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.

Construction Where Can I Test A Dreamcloud Mattress
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Where Can I Test A Dreamcloud Mattress
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The middle of these three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of foam transitions to the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in moderating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting mild hand pressure into the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
Now I want to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving just my opinion on the general firmness level of this mattress, I invited three other individuals to give their opinion too. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of the mattress, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. While you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of the DreamCloud to you, I chose to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped lift me from the bed and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and from the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to know what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from another. Where Can I Test A Dreamcloud Mattress
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great solution for couples.
When purchasing a new bed, the majority of men and women want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Where Can I Test A Dreamcloud Mattress
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a partner and will need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it will provide.
I’m particularly interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
