As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our standards for what a quality mattress must have. With 8 unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all the proper materials in its construction. Voila vs Dreamcloud
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Voila vs Dreamcloud
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play , I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Voila vs Dreamcloud
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is especially important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at releasing heat, so the addition of those small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent rebound and assist to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the spaces between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
Now I want to let you know that individuals of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the mattress, I invited three additional individuals to give their opinion as well. This will provide you with a much better feeling of the firmness range you may see from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of this DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compared to the market norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a good mattress. While you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you out of the bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Rather than just explaining the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I chose to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do so, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can find the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel as though I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to shift across these positions with comparative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you’ll want to know what it’ll feel like when another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of movement that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. Voila vs Dreamcloud
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Voila vs Dreamcloud
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a partner and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it is going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will provide.
I am particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did at the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
