Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our standards for what a quality bed should have. With 8 unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the right materials in its construction. Sleep Advisor Dreamcloud
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Sleep Advisor Dreamcloud
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play , I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together. Sleep Advisor Dreamcloud
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The center of the three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the addition of these small ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent rebound and assist to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my view on the overall firmness level of this DreamCloud, I invited three additional people to give their opinion as well. This will give you a much better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. While you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than just explaining the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I chose to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can find the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. But, I still felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I believed the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse, you will want to know what it will feel like if the other person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of movement that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. Sleep Advisor Dreamcloud
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Sleep Advisor Dreamcloud
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and will need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I am particularly interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
