From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.

Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.

A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Online Mattress Showroom, Tulo Mattress Reviews, Nectar Mattress Reviews, Purple, Dreamcloud, Lull

The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.

Given all of the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Online Mattress Showroom, Tulo Mattress Reviews, Nectar Mattress Reviews, Purple, Dreamcloud, Lull

construction-1

Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.

Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The center of these three layers is particularly essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at releasing heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations promotes more cooling.

Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in moderating temperatures as the distances between them permit continuous air flow.

Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the base of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the entire mattress.

Firmness

After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.

At this point I’d like to let you know that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I enlisted three other individuals to give their view too. This will give you a much better sense of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.

firmness test-1

As you can find in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the market standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is apparent that this bed is pretty firm.

I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.

Pressure Map

Rather than simply describing the feel of the mattress to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do this, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can find the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).

pressure map-1

Back – Once on my back, my weight was equally dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.

Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.

Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the bed, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease.

Motion Transfer

If you intend on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to know what it will feel like if the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress from the other. Online Mattress Showroom, Tulo Mattress Reviews, Nectar Mattress Reviews, Purple, Dreamcloud, Lull

To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.

The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome option for couples.

Sinkage Test

While buying a new bed, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.

The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Online Mattress Showroom, Tulo Mattress Reviews, Nectar Mattress Reviews, Purple, Dreamcloud, Lull

6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.

10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.

50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.

100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.

Even though you’re going to encounter some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.

I am especially interested to determine if the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.

Laying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.

Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.

In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
