As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a quality bed must have. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all of the proper materials in its construction. Mattress Clarity Dreamcloud Review
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Mattress Clarity Dreamcloud Review
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together. Mattress Clarity Dreamcloud Review
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the addition of these small ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent rebound and assist to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in moderating temperature as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the base of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting mild hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to note that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my view on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I invited three other individuals to present their opinion as well. This will give you a much better feeling of the firmness range you can see from the mattress.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the market norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is apparent that this bed is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than simply explaining the feel of the mattress to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can find the outcomes on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, therefore I did not feel as though I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a partner, you’ll want to know what it’ll feel like when the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Mattress Clarity Dreamcloud Review
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Mattress Clarity Dreamcloud Review
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your mattress with a spouse and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it will give you.
I am especially interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the bed as I did at the middle. Going closer to the side, I felt a little compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
