As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our criteria for what a excellent mattress must have. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the proper materials in its construction. How Is Dreamcloud Shipped
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction How Is Dreamcloud Shipped
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. How Is Dreamcloud Shipped
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The middle of the three layers is especially essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the addition of those small ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions into the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in moderating temperature as the spaces between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the base of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying light hand pressure into the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I want to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I invited three additional individuals to give their opinion too. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of this DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is clear that this bed is really firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to just explaining the feel of the mattress for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do so, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, therefore I did not feel as though I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. However, I felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse, you’ll want to know what it’ll feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress from the other. How Is Dreamcloud Shipped
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome solution for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. How Is Dreamcloud Shipped
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to encounter some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it is likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m especially interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did at the middle. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
