Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our standards for what a excellent bed should have. With eight exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Goodbed Dreamcloud
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant shaping to the mattress. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Goodbed Dreamcloud
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I am stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact together. Goodbed Dreamcloud
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The center of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at releasing heat, so the addition of these small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the bottom of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure to the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I want to let you know that individuals of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three additional individuals to present their opinion too. This will provide you with a much better sense of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of the mattress, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is clear that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a good mattress. While you’ll feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of the DreamCloud to you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do so, I placed a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like when the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress from the other. Goodbed Dreamcloud
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Goodbed Dreamcloud
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and will need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I’m particularly interested to determine if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
