As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our criteria for what a quality mattress must provide. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud White Glove
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud White Glove
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I am stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud White Glove
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft texture up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The center of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the addition of these small ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in moderating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the base of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
At this point I want to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of this DreamCloud, I enlisted three other individuals to give their view as well. This will give you a much better sense of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compared to the market norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s clear that this bed is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it is definitely a good mattress. While you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than just describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, therefore I did not feel as though I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you’ll want to know what it will feel like if the other person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another. Dreamcloud White Glove
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
When buying a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud White Glove
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your mattress with a partner and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I’m particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
