As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our criteria for what a quality bed must provide. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all of the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud vs Nectar Mattress
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant shaping to the mattress. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud vs Nectar Mattress
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play , I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud vs Nectar Mattress
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The middle of the three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at releasing heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting light hand pressure to the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
Now I want to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the mattress, I invited three additional people to present their view as well. This will give you a much better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compared to the industry norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this bed is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to simply describing the feel of the mattress to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do this, I placed a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can find the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, therefore I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. But, I felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a spouse, you’ll want to find out what it’ll feel like if the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of movement that’s detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud vs Nectar Mattress
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome solution for couples.
While purchasing a new bed, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud vs Nectar Mattress
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a partner and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the bed as I did at the middle. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
