As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets a number of our standards for what a excellent mattress must provide. With 8 exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Travel
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Travel
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Travel
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is particularly essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at dissipating heat, so the addition of those small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of foam transitions to the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in moderating temperatures as the spaces between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure to the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
Now I want to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of this DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to present their opinion too. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the market standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s clear that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a good bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than simply explaining the feel of the mattress to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can find the results on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was equally distributed across the mattress, therefore I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I believed that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the bed, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse, you will want to know what it will feel like when the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress from the other. Dreamcloud Travel
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Travel
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your mattress with a partner and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did at the center. Going closer to the side, I felt a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
