Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our criteria for what a excellent bed must provide. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Strain
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Strain
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play , I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Strain
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The middle of these three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the base of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting mild hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
At this point I want to note that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my opinion on the general firmness level of this DreamCloud, I invited three other people to present their opinion as well. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of the mattress, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compared to the market norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s clear that this bed is really firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it is definitely a good mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from this bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than simply describing the feel of this mattress to you, I chose to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. However, I still felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and out of the bed, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you’ll want to know what it’ll feel like if the other person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Dreamcloud Strain
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
While purchasing a new bed, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Strain
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and will need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it will give you.
I’m particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
