As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a quality bed must have. With eight exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Specs
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Specs
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Specs
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft texture up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The center of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the spaces between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure to the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
Now I want to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the mattress, I enlisted three additional individuals to give their view too. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you may see from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this bed is really firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of this mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to just explaining the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do so, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I believed that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and from the bed, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to shift across these positions with comparative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to find out what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. Dreamcloud Specs
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Specs
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to encounter some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a little compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
