As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a excellent mattress must provide. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Slumber Yard
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant shaping to the mattress. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dreamcloud Slumber Yard
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Slumber Yard
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The middle of these three layers is especially important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting light hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
At this point I want to note that individuals of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I enlisted three other people to present their view too. This will provide you with a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of the mattress, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it is definitely a solid mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of this mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Rather than just explaining the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do this, I put a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, therefore I did not feel as though I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I believed that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to find out what it will feel like when the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Slumber Yard
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome option for couples.
While purchasing a new bed, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Slumber Yard
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to encounter some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
