As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our criteria for what a excellent bed should have. With 8 exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Sleep
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.

Construction Dreamcloud Sleep
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Sleep
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The middle of the three layers is especially essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in moderating temperature as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the base of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting light hand pressure into the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I enlisted three additional people to give their view as well. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of this mattress, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the market standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s clear that this bed is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from the mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do so, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can find the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was equally distributed throughout the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I believed the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to know what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Sleep
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great solution for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Sleep
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it will provide.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the coil system beneath. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
