Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our criteria for what a quality bed should provide. With 8 unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Review Forum
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Review Forum
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Review Forum
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will discover three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The center of these three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
At this point I want to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of this DreamCloud, I invited three other individuals to give their view as well. This will provide you with a much better sense of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of the mattress, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s apparent that this bed is really firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of this mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to simply explaining the feel of this mattress to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can find the results on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, therefore I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I thought that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to know what it’ll feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of movement that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Review Forum
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great solution for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Review Forum
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to encounter some instant sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your mattress with a spouse and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did at the center. Going closer to the side, I experienced a little compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
