Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our standards for what a quality mattress must provide. With eight exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Queen
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant shaping to the mattress. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Queen
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Queen
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The center of these three layers is particularly essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the bottom of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I want to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of this DreamCloud, I invited three other individuals to present their opinion too. This will provide you with a better sense of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is clear that this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a good bed. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I chose to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can find the outcomes on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was equally distributed across the mattress, therefore I did not feel as though I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and out of the bed, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to shift across these positions with comparative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like when another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of movement that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Dreamcloud Queen
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome option for couples.
When purchasing a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Queen
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to encounter some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it is likely to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I am especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
