Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a excellent mattress should provide. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud utilizes all the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Or Oceano?
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.

Construction Dreamcloud Or Oceano?
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I’m stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Or Oceano?
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will discover three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The middle of the three layers is particularly essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent rebound and assist to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
Now I want to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I invited three additional people to present their view too. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of this DreamCloud, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compared to the market standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is clear that this bed is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it is definitely a solid mattress. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to simply describing the feel of the mattress to you, I chose to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can find the outcomes on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to know what it’ll feel like when another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Or Oceano?
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
While purchasing a new bed, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Or Oceano?
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to encounter some instant sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and will need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it will provide.
I am particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
