As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a excellent bed must have. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud News
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud News
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud News
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The center of these three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the base of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that individuals of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I invited three additional people to give their opinion as well. This will provide you with a much better sense of the firmness range you may see from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of this mattress, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it is definitely a good bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from the mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Rather than just describing the feel of this mattress to you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do so, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I believed that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse, you will want to know what it’ll feel like if the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud News
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud News
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to encounter some instant sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a partner and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it will give you.
I’m particularly interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
