As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our criteria for what a excellent bed should have. With eight exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Microplush Mattress Pad
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Microplush Mattress Pad
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Microplush Mattress Pad
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The center of these three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting mild hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
Now I want to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three additional individuals to give their view too. This will give you a much better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the market standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this bed is really firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it is definitely a good mattress. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than simply explaining the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, therefore I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I believed the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and from the mattress, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to know what it will feel like if another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. Dreamcloud Microplush Mattress Pad
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
When buying a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Microplush Mattress Pad
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I am especially interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
