Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets a number of our standards for what a excellent bed should provide. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Mattresss
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dreamcloud Mattresss
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Mattresss
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the addition of those tiny ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of this mattress, I invited three additional people to present their opinion as well. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compared to the market norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. While you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than simply explaining the feel of this mattress to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can find the outcomes on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the bed and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and from the bed, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to shift across these positions with comparative ease.
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like if another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Dreamcloud Mattresss
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great solution for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Mattresss
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a spouse and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
