As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our standards for what a excellent mattress must have. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud King Weight
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant shaping to the mattress. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud King Weight
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play here, I’m stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Dreamcloud King Weight
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The center of the three layers is especially important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at releasing heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in moderating temperature as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my opinion on the general firmness level of this mattress, I invited three other individuals to present their view as well. This will provide you with a better sense of the firmness range you can see from the bed.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the mattress, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s clear that this bed is really firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you out of the bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was equally dispersed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel as though I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I believed the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and from the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you will want to find out what it will feel like if another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress from the other. Dreamcloud King Weight
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
When buying a new bed, the majority of men and women want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud King Weight
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a spouse and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I’m particularly interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the coil system beneath. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
