As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a quality mattress should provide. With 8 exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Investors
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers on the market.

The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play , I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Investors
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The middle of these three layers is especially important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the addition of those small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the spaces between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I want to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I invited three other individuals to give their view too. This will provide you with a better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the mattress, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this bed is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Rather than simply explaining the feel of the DreamCloud to you, I chose to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do so, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I did not feel as though I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress from the other. Dreamcloud Investors
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome option for couples.
When purchasing a new bed, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Investors
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a spouse and will need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I’m especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I experienced a little compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
