As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our criteria for what a quality mattress should have. With 8 unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all of the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Interpretation
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant shaping to the mattress. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dreamcloud Interpretation
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Interpretation
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is especially important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent rebound and assist to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting light hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
Now I’d like to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I invited three other people to give their opinion as well. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you may see from the bed.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s clear that this bed is pretty firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it is definitely a solid mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to just explaining the feel of this mattress for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was equally dispersed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it’ll feel like when the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of movement that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Interpretation
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome solution for couples.
When buying a new bed, the majority of people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Interpretation
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your mattress with a partner and will need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, then it is going to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it will provide.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
