As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a quality mattress should have. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Hybrid
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Hybrid
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Hybrid
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The middle of these three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at releasing heat, so the addition of those tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in moderating temperature as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to note that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I enlisted three other people to present their opinion too. This will provide you with a better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is clear that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. While you’ll feel some small sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from the mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Rather than just describing the feel of this mattress to you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can find the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel as though I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and from the bed, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like when the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of movement that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to another. Dreamcloud Hybrid
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Hybrid
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and will need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I am particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the bed as I did at the middle. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
