Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our standards for what a quality mattress should provide. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Holdings
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Holdings
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play , I am stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Holdings
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The middle of these three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in moderating temperature as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of this DreamCloud, I invited three other people to present their opinion too. This will provide you with a better feeling of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a good bed. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Rather than just explaining the feel of this mattress to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was equally distributed across the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a spouse, you will want to find out what it will feel like when another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of movement that is detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Holdings
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
While purchasing a new bed, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Holdings
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to encounter some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a spouse and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will provide.
I am especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the coil system beneath. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
