As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our criteria for what a excellent bed should have. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Full
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Full
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Full
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The middle of these three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the addition of those small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the spaces between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
At this point I want to note that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to present their opinion too. This will provide you with a better sense of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compared to the industry norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s clear that this bed is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to simply explaining the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I believed the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse, you’ll want to know what it’ll feel like if another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of movement that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. Dreamcloud Full
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great solution for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Full
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a partner and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it will give you.
I’m especially interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
