Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our criteria for what a excellent bed must have. With 8 unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud utilizes all the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Ftc
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Ftc
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Ftc
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The center of these three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of those tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting light hand pressure to the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
Now I want to let you know that individuals of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I invited three additional people to give their opinion as well. This will provide you with a much better sense of the firmness range you can see from the bed.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is clear that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it is definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from the mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can find the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was equally dispersed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the bed and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the bed, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a spouse, you will want to find out what it will feel like if the other person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of movement that’s detectable from one side of the mattress from the other. Dreamcloud Ftc
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
While buying a new bed, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Ftc
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a partner and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m particularly interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle. Going closer to the side, I felt a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
