Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our criteria for what a quality bed must provide. With 8 exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Foundation
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dreamcloud Foundation
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Foundation
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The center of the three layers is particularly essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those tiny ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in moderating temperatures as the distances between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting light hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of this DreamCloud, I enlisted three other individuals to present their opinion as well. This will provide you with a much better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compare this to the market norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it is definitely a solid mattress. While you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you from this bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to simply describing the feel of this mattress to you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I put a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I thought the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to know what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of movement that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. Dreamcloud Foundation
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome option for couples.
When purchasing a new bed, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Foundation
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m especially interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I felt a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
