As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our criteria for what a excellent mattress should have. With 8 unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Eyes
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Eyes
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Eyes
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The center of these three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those tiny ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in moderating temperature as the distances between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the base of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting mild hand pressure into the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that individuals of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to present their view too. This will provide you with a better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the market norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is apparent that this bed is pretty firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was equally dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to find out what it’ll feel like if another person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of movement that is detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Eyes
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this a great solution for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Eyes
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to encounter some instant sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a partner and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will give you.
I am particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
