Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our standards for what a excellent bed should provide. With 8 unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Consumer Reviews
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant shaping to the mattress. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dreamcloud Consumer Reviews
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Consumer Reviews
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The center of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in moderating temperature as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting light hand pressure to the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of this DreamCloud, I invited three other individuals to present their view as well. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of this DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is apparent that this bed is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. While you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of this mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can find the outcomes on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was equally dispersed across the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped lift me from the bed and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I believed the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the bed, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to know what it will feel like when another individual crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of movement that is detectable from one side of the mattress to another. Dreamcloud Consumer Reviews
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great solution for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Consumer Reviews
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to encounter some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a partner and need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it will give you.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I felt a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
