Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets a number of our standards for what a excellent mattress should have. With 8 exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Comparison
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Comparison
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Comparison
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The center of the three layers is particularly essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure to the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
Now I’d like to let you know that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my view on the general firmness level of this mattress, I enlisted three other people to present their view too. This will provide you with a better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compared to the market standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s clear that this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a good bed. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of the mattress for you, I chose to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do this, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I believed that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and out of the bed, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to find out what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. Dreamcloud Comparison
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome option for couples.
While buying a new bed, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Comparison
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your mattress with a spouse and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it will provide.
I’m especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
