Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our criteria for what a excellent bed should have. With eight exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Box Size
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Box Size
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play , I’m stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Box Size
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The middle of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at releasing heat, so the addition of these small ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions to the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in moderating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
At this point I want to note that individuals of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three additional individuals to give their opinion as well. This will give you a much better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s clear that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a good bed. While you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Rather than simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I thought the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and from the bed, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to know what it’ll feel like if another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of movement that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Dreamcloud Box Size
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Box Size
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a spouse and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Going closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
