Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our standards for what a excellent bed should provide. With 8 unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Beds
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.

Construction Dreamcloud Beds
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play , I’m stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Beds
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The center of the three layers is especially essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at dissipating heat, so the addition of those tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting mild hand pressure to the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to note that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three additional individuals to give their opinion as well. This will provide you with a much better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compared to the market standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s clear that this bed is pretty firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you out of the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do this, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was equally distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I believed that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse, you’ll want to know what it will feel like if another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Beds
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome solution for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Beds
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I’m particularly interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did at the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the coil system beneath. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
