Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our criteria for what a quality bed should provide. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Bedding
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Bedding
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Bedding
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the addition of those tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in moderating temperature as the spaces between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
Now I want to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three additional individuals to present their opinion as well. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you can see from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the market standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s clear that this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a good bed. While you’ll feel some small sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Rather than simply describing the feel of the mattress for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can find the results on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was equally dispersed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to shift across these positions with comparative ease.
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you will want to find out what it will feel like if the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of motion that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to another. Dreamcloud Bedding
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome option for couples.
When buying a new bed, most men and women want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Bedding
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your mattress with a spouse and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the bed as I did at the middle. Going closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
