Firmness

At this point I’d like to let you know that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. While you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of the bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Pressure Map
As opposed to just explaining the feel of the mattress for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can find the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, therefore I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse, you will want to know what it’ll feel like if the other person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at night. To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, thanks to its individually wrapped coils.
