As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets a number of our standards for what a quality bed must provide. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all of the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Bed Frame Review
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dreamcloud Bed Frame Review
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Bed Frame Review
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure to the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I want to let you know that individuals of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I invited three other people to give their opinion as well. This will provide you with a much better sense of the firmness range you can see from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the market standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s clear that this bed is really firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it is definitely a solid mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than just describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can find the results on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to know what it will feel like if another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of movement that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Bed Frame Review
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome solution for couples.
When buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Bed Frame Review
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your mattress with a spouse and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it is likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will give you.
I’m particularly interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle. Going closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
