Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our standards for what a excellent bed should have. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Arrived Dirty
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dreamcloud Arrived Dirty
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Arrived Dirty
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those tiny ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting mild hand pressure into the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I invited three additional individuals to give their opinion as well. This will provide you with a much better feeling of the firmness range you can see from the mattress.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of this DreamCloud, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compare this to the market standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s clear that this bed is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than simply describing the feel of the mattress to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do so, I placed a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can find the results on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was equally dispersed across the mattress, so I did not feel as though I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and out of the bed, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of movement that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Arrived Dirty
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great option for couples.
When purchasing a new bed, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Arrived Dirty
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your mattress with a partner and need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I am especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did at the center. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
