As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our criteria for what a quality mattress should provide. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Adjustable Beds
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant shaping to the mattress. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Adjustable Beds
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Adjustable Beds
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The center of these three layers is particularly essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of those tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the bottom of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting light hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of this DreamCloud, I enlisted three other individuals to give their opinion as well. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can see from the bed.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compared to the industry norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can find the outcomes on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was equally distributed throughout the mattress, therefore I did not feel as though I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I thought the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you’ll want to know what it will feel like if the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. Dreamcloud Adjustable Beds
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome solution for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Adjustable Beds
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to encounter some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and will need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I am especially interested to determine if the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did at the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a little compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
