Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a quality mattress must have. With 8 unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Tattoo
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dream Cloud Tattoo
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dream Cloud Tattoo
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The center of the three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the base of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting light hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to note that individuals of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well. This will give you a much better feeling of the firmness range you may see from the mattress.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the mattress, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compared to the industry norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of this mattress for you, I chose to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was equally dispersed throughout the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the bed and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you’ll want to know what it’ll feel like when another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Dream Cloud Tattoo
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome solution for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Tattoo
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and will need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s going to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
