As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our standards for what a excellent mattress must provide. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all the proper materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Queen
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you’re looking to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dream Cloud Queen
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dream Cloud Queen
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft texture up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The center of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of foam transitions to the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the base of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting light hand pressure to the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of this DreamCloud, I enlisted three additional individuals to present their opinion as well. This will provide you with a much better feeling of the firmness range you may see from the mattress.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a good bed. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from this mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to just explaining the feel of this mattress for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I thought that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to find out what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of movement that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. Dream Cloud Queen
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome solution for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Queen
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and will need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, then it is going to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it will give you.
I’m particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I felt a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
