As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a excellent mattress must provide. With eight exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Nine9
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant shaping to the mattress. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.

Construction Dream Cloud Nine9
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play , I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dream Cloud Nine9
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The center of the three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at dissipating heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the distances between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the base of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
Now I want to let you know that individuals of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my view on the general firmness level of this mattress, I enlisted three other people to present their opinion too. This will give you a much better feeling of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this mattress is really firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it is definitely a good bed. While you’ll feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Rather than just explaining the feel of this mattress for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can find the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was equally dispersed across the mattress, therefore I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. However, I felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you’ll want to find out what it’ll feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Dream Cloud Nine9
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome solution for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Nine9
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it will give you.
I’m especially interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the middle. Going closer to the side, I experienced a little compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
