Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets a number of our standards for what a quality mattress must provide. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all the right materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Microplush Mattress Pad
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dream Cloud Microplush Mattress Pad
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play , I am stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dream Cloud Microplush Mattress Pad
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The center of these three layers is particularly essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the distances between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting mild hand pressure to the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I want to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I invited three additional individuals to give their view as well. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you may expect from the mattress.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the market norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is apparent that this bed is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. While you’ll feel some small sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to just explaining the feel of the mattress to you, I chose to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. But, I felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to know what it will feel like if another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. Dream Cloud Microplush Mattress Pad
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome solution for couples.
While purchasing a new bed, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Microplush Mattress Pad
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your mattress with a spouse and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it is going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I’m especially interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
