As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our criteria for what a excellent bed must provide. With eight exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all of the proper materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Memory Foam Mattress
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dream Cloud Memory Foam Mattress
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dream Cloud Memory Foam Mattress
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will discover three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The middle of these three layers is especially important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the addition of those tiny ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of foam transitions to the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the base of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting light hand pressure into the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to note that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I invited three other individuals to present their opinion as well. This will give you a much better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of the mattress, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compared to the industry norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a good bed. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud to you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can find the outcomes on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. However, I felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to know what it’ll feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. Dream Cloud Memory Foam Mattress
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great solution for couples.
While buying a new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Memory Foam Mattress
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your mattress with a spouse and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
