As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our criteria for what a quality mattress should provide. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all of the right materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Mattress Weight Limit
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dream Cloud Mattress Weight Limit
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dream Cloud Mattress Weight Limit
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft texture up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The middle of the three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent rebound and assist to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the spaces between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the bottom of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
After taking a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting light hand pressure to the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their view too. This will give you a much better sense of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of the mattress, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the market norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of the mattress to you, I chose to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do so, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was equally dispersed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I believed that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to find out what it will feel like if another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dream Cloud Mattress Weight Limit
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome solution for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Mattress Weight Limit
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your bed with a spouse and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it is going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it will provide.
I’m especially interested to determine if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
