As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets a number of our standards for what a quality bed should provide. With eight exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Mattress Review
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.

Construction Dream Cloud Mattress Review
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dream Cloud Mattress Review
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The center of the three layers is especially important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in moderating temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the mattress, I enlisted three additional individuals to present their opinion too. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this bed is pretty firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. While you’ll feel some small sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Rather than simply describing the feel of the mattress for you, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. But, I felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I believed that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with relative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a spouse, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like if another individual crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Dream Cloud Mattress Review
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great solution for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Mattress Review
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a spouse and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it is likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am especially interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
