Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our standards for what a excellent mattress must provide. With 8 exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all the proper materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Mattress Issues
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dream Cloud Mattress Issues
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dream Cloud Mattress Issues
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The middle of the three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the spaces between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the base of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting mild hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
Now I want to note that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three additional people to give their view too. This will provide you with a much better feeling of the firmness range you may see from the bed.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of the mattress, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this bed is really firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from the mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was equally dispersed throughout the mattress, therefore I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to know what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dream Cloud Mattress Issues
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome solution for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Mattress Issues
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
If you’re going to share your mattress with a partner and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I am especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did at the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system under. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
