Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our criteria for what a quality bed should have. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the proper materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Linear Mosaic
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dream Cloud Linear Mosaic
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Dream Cloud Linear Mosaic
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the spaces between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the base of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting mild hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that individuals of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of this DreamCloud, I enlisted three additional people to give their view as well. This will provide you with a better sense of the firmness range you can see from the bed.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is clear that this mattress is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
As opposed to just describing the feel of the mattress for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was equally distributed across the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and from the bed, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Dream Cloud Linear Mosaic
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great solution for couples.
When buying a new bed, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Linear Mosaic
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and will need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it will give you.
I am particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Going closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
